Trooper responds to call about abandoned dog, ends up adopting him

Police officers are always there to help animals in need, but one trooper really went above-and-beyond to help an abandoned dog.

Trooper Kayla Moore, of Michigan State Police’s Gaylord Post, recently responded to a call about an abandoned dog, according to a release from the department.

Moore picked up the dog and gave her a ride to the shelter — and the two started to form a special bond. “Trooper Moore and the dog seemed to be a perfect match,” MSP wrote on Twitter.

When the pair arrived at Antrim County Animal Shelter, Moore wasn’t ready to say goodbye yet. Sensing that fate brought them together, she filled out an application to adopt the sweet dog herself.

She named the dog Rosie and gave her a forever home — a sweet happy ending to this story.

MSP Seventh District said that Rosie was part of a litter of dogs that their canine teams had been searching for, and that she was one of “numerous dogs” abandoned in the area lately.

The department encouraged people to help out by adopting other available shelter dogs.

What an inspiring story — we’re so glad that Rosie has a home ❤️ It was truly meant to be.
